Jennifer is a general gynaecologist with a special interest in urogynaecology. She was appointed as a consultant in 2000 and her NHS practice is at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. She has 20 years of experience of working in private practice in Wigan and St Helens. She has recently expanded her private practice to include sessions at The Wilmslow Hospital.

She has extensive experience in non-surgical management of urinary symptoms. If further investigation is indicated, she is trained in urodynamic (bladder) testing and carries out the investigations personally, combining the testing with a discussion about diagnosis and management. She performs out-patient procedures such as Botox injections for overactive bladder and urethral bulking for stress incontinence. She offers a full range of surgical procedures to treat both incontinence and prolapse including procedures without the use of mesh. In accordance with NICE guidance all continence and prolapse procedures are discussed in a multidisciplinary team meeting prior to surgery and all are registered on the national database held by the British Society of Urogynaecology.

She has wide experience in general gynaecology including treating menstrual (period) problems and menopause symptoms and carries out general gynaecological procedures such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and hysterectomy. She does not perform colposcopy or specialist fertility treatments.

She works with 2 colleagues as Partners in Women's Health who own a Mona Lisa Touch machine located at The Wilmslow Hospital and so she is able to offer vaginal laser therapy to treat vaginal dryness and discomfort associated with the menopause.

In addition to her clinical work she has experience in medical education and has served on the Specialist Education Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She led the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Wigan as Clinical Director for many years. She has an interest in providing accessible patient information and was Chair of the Information Committee of the British Society of Urogynaecology where she is currently the Vice Chair of the IT committee. She is a committee member of the NICE guideline group developing a guideline on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: prevention and non-surgical management and is also a committee member of a group working with the United Kingdom Continence Society to develop a UK guideline for the use of vaginal pessaries to treat prolapse.
