Dr Bergson undertook her undergraduate degree at Leeds University and completed her doctorate at Surrey University in 2003. She has previously worked in the Pain Management Centre at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the General Medicine service at the Whittington Hospital and INPUT Pain Management Centre based at St Thomas’ Hospital. Her last position was as Clinical Lead for the Locomotor Pain Service, part of the Homerton community University Hospital Foundation Trust. She left avfew years ago to concnetate on her private work.
She uses primarily CBT and ACT approaches and specialises in the adjustment and management of persistent pain conditions with an aim to help people manage the associated distress and impact that this can have on a person’s life. Dr Bergson also aims to identify and break any unhelpful cycles that may have developed in relation to pain and work towards improving quality of life. She is trained in mindfulness and helps people live a life of quality alongside the pain. She will work with any pain conditions a person finds themselves struggling with, or wishing to optmisie their managemnt of, these include; musculo-skeletal conditions, neuropathic pain, pelvic pain and gastro pain conditions.
Dr Bergson works closely with the other healthcare professionals to support their treatments with psychological management of long-term chronic pain patients. This is essential for a holistic approach for a prominent and successful pain team.
