    About

Mr Ian Chilcott completed his medical degree at the University of London, graduating in 1993. Since 2005, he has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist within The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust, specialising in laparoscopic, or keyhole, surgery. Hillingdon Hospital is an extremely busy district general hospital that sees the birth of five thousand babies a year. Mr Chilcott has varied tasks, including gynaecology clinics, antenatal clinics, gynaecological operations and managing the labour ward.

Mr Chilcott is highly competent at performing procedures such as endometrial resection and laparoscopic hysterectomy. He also has expertise in providing care throughout straightforward and complicated pregnancy cases, including during delivery and the post-natal period. His private practice is based at The Portland Hospital in Central London, but he also sees patients at BMI Hospitals in Northwood and Buckinghamshire.

Additionally, Mr Chilcott has an active role in teaching. He is one of a few consultants recognised as being qualified to deliver training to Specialist Registrars in minimal access gynaecology. He is also a tutor for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, with overall responsibility for the training of all junior doctors within the gynaecological department at Hillingdon Hospital. Finally, he is a coordinator and examiner for the Imperial College Medical School’s undergraduate obstetrics and gynaecology module.

Dr Chilcott was my doctor for both my pregnancies, and he was caring, attentive and helpful throughout both. I had total confidence in his recommendations and the decisions we made, and if I had had an issue during labour, I would have been happy to have him there as my doctor. When i had questions and concerns one weekend he was available and helpful over WhatsApp.

I've had two babies at the Portland Hospital with Dr Chilcott as my obstetrician. He is skilled, friendly and listens very well to your personal wishes while making sure to provide the best advise for mother and baby.

I would highly recommend Dr Chilcott. He delivered both my babies. The first was delivered via emergency c-section. He was the calming force I needed at the time with wonderful bedside manner. With our second we had some complications along the way and he was very patient and answered all my questions quickly (sometimes via email). It’s nice to have a familiar face in theater. If we have a third I will definitely look to him to deliver the baby.

Mr Chilcott delivered both of my babies. His care throughout my pregnancies was outstanding. He took the time to listen to my little worries and helped me through terrible heartburn and SPD. His bedside manner and humour was just wanted I needed during labour and delivery. My first delivery needed a bit of help and he took great care in stitching me up. I highly recommend Mr Chilcott.
