    About

Dr Helen Fidler is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 1998, overseeing the huge expansion of her gastroenterology department while gaining a wealth of clinical experience from an increasing population catchment area since then.

Dr Fidler qualified with a first class degree from Guys Hospital in 1987, training in London in centres of excellence including University College Hospital and The Royal Free Hospital.

Dr Fidler has maintained her research interests in irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease and especially the effect that the symptoms have on patient’s quality of life. Unusually, she has a particular interest in the anxious patient and has built up a multidisciplinary team to support people who would benefit from a holistic approach to troublesome symptoms. In addition to her interest in clinical gastroenterology she has national roles which reflect the high esteem of her colleagues - both as an elected member of BMA Council and as Deputy Chair of the BMA UK Consultants Committee.

I am extremely satisfied with the advice and treatment I have received from Dr Helen Fidler. At my initial consultation, Dr Fidler listened thoroughly to the problems I was experiencing, asking many questions to get a clear understanding of my symptoms. She then recommended a procedure which I underwent. As a rather nervous patient, I found Dr Fidler to be extremely kind and reassuring. She explained the procedure thoroughly, so that I felt at ease. At my follow up appointment, I was I was reassured by the outcome of the procedure. Dr Fidler also provided me with dietary advice to alleviate discomfort. I would highly recommend Dr Helen Fidler.

I've got the pain from lower left abdomen for a while. When it became severe recently, I luckily booked an appointment with Dr Fidler. She helped me carry out tests to check what is wrong, and ruled out potential causes that made me worried a lot. She is patient, explaining everything and answering my questions in details. Her professional suggestions and attitude made the testing process easy to understand so that I felt comfortable and safe enough to follow her advice. I really appreciate what she did for me!
