Professor Guido Pieles

Prof. Guido Pieles is a childrens and adult congenital cardiologist with expertise in inherited cardiac conditions and sports and exercise cardiology. After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Marburg/ Germany, and a DPhil at Oxford University in cardiovascular genetics he trained in childrens and adult congenital cardiology/ inherited cardiac conditions/ echocardiography at the Bristol Heart Institute and the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies and other inherited cardiac conditions and in the cardiac performance assessment and care of paediatric and adult athletes. He is working as an internationally recognised sports cardiologist with special interest in Football cardiology.

He is also the director of Cardiac Health & Performance Ltd., a sports cardiology consulting company https://www.cardiac-hp.com/. His research centres on the development of innovative methods to monitor cardiac performance in elite athletes and young people with inherited heart disease.
