Dr Geoffrey J. Lloyd is a Consultant Gastroenterologist whose main medical interests are Gastroenterology and Endocrinology. He sees patients with diverse medical problems but in particular those with abdominal pains, heartburn, irritable bowel, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diabetes, thyroid disease and the Metabolic Syndrome. He performs Gastroscopies and Colonoscopies at the Princess Grace Hospital Endoscopy Centre each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
Dr Lloyd was educated at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School of the University of London, gaining a BSc Anatomy in 1967, MBBS in 1970 and the MRCP in 1973. As a student he was President of the British Medical Students Association and then President of the International Federation of Medical Student Association. He was awarded his FRCP in 1984 and since then has gained an LLB in 1994. His early medical education was in the Liver Unit of the Royal Free hospital and he has held the posts of Senior Lecturer Gastroenterology, Clinical Tutor and Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School.
Dr Lloyd has also spent many years in both Kuwait, as Senior Medical Officer at Ahmadi and teaching undergraduates and postgraduates in the Kuwait Medical School, and Bahrain, as head of the Medical Unit in Awali Hospital Bahrain. Since being in Wimpole Street he has visited and run clinics in Qatar and still travels frequently to the area. He therefore brings an understanding of Middle Eastern culture and medical problems there, and he speaks reasonable medical Arabic.
