Dr Seward is a Gastroenterologist who has a subspecialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of precancer and early cancer in the bowel. He has a particular focus on colonoscopy, and currently performs approximately one thousand procedures per year.
He is Director of Endoscopy at University College London Hospital, the UK’s premiere hospital for endoscopy and lectures both nationally and internationally on endoscopy. He is a recognised expert in teaching colonoscopy technique, as well as polyp detection, characterisation and removal. His outpatient clinics specialise in management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, colon polyps and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
He is an associate professor at UCL, with an interest in use of artificial intelligence in the colon as well as non-invasive diagnosis of bowel cancer, and has published extensively on these topics. He has appeared on national television to discuss the use of colon capsule – a tiny camera pill that can non-invasively diagnose bowel disorders, and is a member of a research group examining its use.
Dr Seward is well liked by his patients for his informal style, clear explanations, and technical ability.
