



Respiratory Medicine
Professor Leonard is a leading Consultant in Respiratory, Thoracic and Transplant Medicine with HCA Healthcare at The Christie Private Care, along with an NHS post at Manchester University Trust. His clinical interests include severe lung disease and interstitial lung disease in addition to the full range of general respiratory problems (bronchitis, asthma, bronchiectasis, pulmonary embolism etc).
He began his career at 1991 at Trinity College Dublin where he was awarded his Medical Degree. He completed an extensive training scheme including 3 years as a Fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University Medical Centre in California. Following this, he was appointed as Attending Physician for the Lung Transplant Program at Stanford before moving back to the UK to take up a Consultant post at Wythenshawe Hospital. His vast experience and strong academic background led to his role as a Consultant Clinical Advisor for Topic Selection with NICE-The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Professor Leonard was awarded an Honorary Professorship by the University of Manchester on behalf of Manchester Academic Health Sciences Centre in 2019
