Dr Afrina Alam is a Consultant Dermatologist at West Middlesex University Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. She also carries out joint specialist clinics in inherited skin cancer syndromes at the Royal Marsden Hospital. She qualified from Guys and St. Thomas Hospital Medical School winning the Gold Medal for placing first in MBBS finals. She was also awarded Distinctions in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology and prizes in Thoracic Medicine, Neurology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Dr Alam general medicine at The Royal Brompton Hospital, Imperial College and St. George"s Hospital and undertook Dermatology specialist training at St. John"s Institute of Dermatology, Chelsea & Westminster, St Marys Hospital and Imperial College London. Her PhD research in genetic skin conditions was awarded by the Royal College of Physicians, the Skin Investigation Society and the British Association of Dermatology annual trophy and prize.
Dr Alam has a wide experience and strong expertise in all aspects of dermatology and she assesses and treats both children and adults.
Dr Alam has a keen interest in research and has published her work in some of the most prestigious medical journals. She is actively involved in education and is an Imperial lead for medical student teaching and has been awarded a commendation for teaching excellence. Dr Alam is Chair of the Imperial College Dermatology Society.
