    About

Dr Adam Humphries is a consultant gastroenterologist and specialist endoscopist at St Mark's Hospital, Harrow, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for intestinal disorders and endoscopy. He is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and his sub-specialist interests include bowel cancer screening and prevention (nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist), colonoscopy and polypectomy, gastroscopy, small bowel diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, video capsule endoscopy, trans-nasal endoscopy and double-balloon enteroscopy. Dr Humphries also leads the small bowel endoscopy service at St Mark's Hospital, a national referral centre and one of only a few sites in the UK that provides double-balloon enteroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases.

In 2007 Dr Humphries was awarded a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and subsequently gained a PhD in 2012 from University College London for his research into the biology of gastrointestinal tumours. He has published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, presented work at a variety of national and international meetings and published a number of book chapters. Dr Humphries' current academic interests include bowel cancer prevention, evolution of pre-cancerous growths (polyps) within the gut and the diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases.

Dr Humphries qualified from Imperial College Medical School in 2002 and undertook his specialist gastroenterology training within London from 2005-2013. He then completed a fellowship in advanced and small bowel endoscopy at St Mark's Hospital before being appointed to the Consultant staff.
