Dr Abbas Chittalia is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in the treatment of breast cancer and lung cancer. He is currently providing these services to patients around the Stockport and Cheshire areas.
Dr Chittalia completed his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training in India, before moving to the UK in 1999. In 2001 he joined The Christie and completed further Clinical Oncology. He was the appointed as a Consultant oncologist in 2006 and is a member of the Disease Orientated Groups for both breast cancer and lung cancer. He also played a fundamental role in the development of the chemotherapy unit at Stockport Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
As well as his clinical work he is actively involved in research and training. He is the Principal Investigator at Christie for Metformin trial and for the Import High Radiotherapy trials at Stockport NHS foundation. He also lectures medical students and registrars and used to be the Trust lead for Middle Grade doctors. He regularly attends national and international meetings, and is well-informed on the advances in cancer care.
Dr Chittalia provides palliative radiotherapy services for cancer related pain. It is his belief that patients should receive the highest standard of care, in a timely and efficient manner.
