



Dermatology
Dr Christos Tziotzios is a Consultant Dermatologist and Senior Lecturer at St. John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London. Dr Tziotzios specialises in scalp and hair disorders, alongside his general medical dermatology (e.g. acne, rosaea, psoriasis, eczema) and skin cancer.
Dr Tziotzios obtained his medical qualifications from the University of Cambridge. He undertook Academic Foundation Training and completed his Core Medicine Training at Cambridge University Hospitals before competitively being appointed Academic Clinical Fellow in Dermatology at St. John’s.
He developed an interest in molecular genetic research and hair disorders and secured substantial research grant funding in order to undertake doctoral research into dissecting the molecular pathogenesis of a highly distressing type of scarring hair loss affecting women known as frontal fibrosing alopecia. His PhD research at St. John’s has culminated in high-impact publications, including an original article in Nature Communications, and several distinctions such as the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) Whimster Prize, the BAD Wycombe Prize, the Royal Society of Medicine Dermatology Research Prize and the NIHR/BAD Award.
He remains active in basic and clinical research: he has recently been awarded the British Skin Foundation Young Investigator Award and leads a UK-wide research consortium investigating lichenoid, scarring and alopecic disorders. He is also the National (UK) Chief Investigator for the ALLEGRO studies into a novel and promising class of medicines for alopecia areata.
Dr Tziotzios teaches undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc) students and supervises PhD research at King’s College London, whilst is regularly invited speaker in local, regional, national and international scientific meeting
