Her other interests include the management of complex infections and antibiotic stewardship. Her research involves newer technologies like whole-genome sequencing for detection of antimicrobial resistance. She has contributed to many national guidelines, is on national advisory committees and has more than 30 publications in the field of Infection.

Carolyn trained at Oxford University, obtaining her medical degree in 1994. Carolyn joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology in 2007 and has been involved with Viapath since its inception in 2008.
