Dr Sean Preston is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health, the UK's largest NHS Trust. He graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, Paddington in 1995. The majority of his postgraduate training was centred at Barts and the London NHS Trust (a major London Teaching Hospital), in addition to a year spent in Sydney as an Advanced Endoscopy Fellow, prior to his appointment as a Consultant at Barts in 2006.

His clinical practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of gastro oesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), Barrett's oesophagus, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, in addition to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy of the oesophagus, stomach and colon. He has a keen interest in gut health and gastrointestinal microbiota (bacteria, viruses and fungi) and uses both diet, pre and probiotics in the achievement and maintenance of optimal conditions within the bowel. Clinical consultations are structured to allow patients sufficient time to explain all their symptoms and to fully understand for the cause of their concerns.

His PhD, undertaken at Cancer Research UK, London, outlined the role of stem cells in gastrointestinal cancers and led to several significant publications in the field.

He is Director of Endoscopy at Barts Health and his endoscopic expertise relates to gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound and he is an accredited colonoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (requiring a rigorous accreditation process and continual audit of key performance indicators). He has written numerous key papers and book chapters on gastrointestinal cancer and continues his research in Barrett's oesophagus.

Dr Preston also featured in the 2013 Tatler Doctors Guide of Britain's top 250 consultants. He was President of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine from 2015-2017 and is currently Chairman of the Specialists' Committee for the Independent Doctors' Federation.

As a founding partner of London Digestive Health, within London Digestive Centre, he works within the framework of first class clinical team of other London Teaching Hospital Gastroenterologists, in addition to GI surgeons, Radiologists, Oncologists and a Dietician. 

Dr Preston is also the Chair of Digestive Diseases and Renal Department at HCA Healthcare UK.

Dr Irving trained in Medicine at Cambridge University and The London Hospital Medical College, qualifying with distinction in 1995. He conducted his research at Bart’s and The London on inflammatory bowel disease before moving to Australia for a further period of research.

He is internationally known as an expert in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis) and leads the inflammatory bowel disease service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London where he also runs a large research and clinical trial programme. He has previously sat on the IBD Section of the British Society of Gastroenterology and Chaired the Education Committee of the European Crohns and Colitis Organisation.

Dr Irving also has a specific interest in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Together with dietetic colleagues at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College London, he introduced the low FODMAP diet to the UK and continues to conduct research in this field. Overall he has over 150 publications and has published 3 books.

His practice includes all aspects of luminal gastroenterology with a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). His endoscopic interests include small bowel capsule endoscopy as well as gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

Dr Adam Humphries is a consultant gastroenterologist and specialist endoscopist at St Mark's Hospital, Harrow, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for intestinal disorders and endoscopy. He is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and his sub-specialist interests include bowel cancer screening and prevention (nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist), colonoscopy and polypectomy, gastroscopy, small bowel diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, video capsule endoscopy, trans-nasal endoscopy and double-balloon enteroscopy. Dr Humphries also leads the small bowel endoscopy service at St Mark's Hospital, a national referral centre and one of only a few sites in the UK that provides double-balloon enteroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases.

In 2007 Dr Humphries was awarded a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and subsequently gained a PhD in 2012 from University College London for his research into the biology of gastrointestinal tumours. He has published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, presented work at a variety of national and international meetings and published a number of book chapters. Dr Humphries' current academic interests include bowel cancer prevention, evolution of pre-cancerous growths (polyps) within the gut and the diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases.

Dr Humphries qualified from Imperial College Medical School in 2002 and undertook his specialist gastroenterology training within London from 2005-2013. He then completed a fellowship in advanced and small bowel endoscopy at St Mark's Hospital before being appointed to the Consultant staff.

Professor Sina Dorudi is a Professor of Surgical Oncology previously appointed as a consultant colorectal surgeon to St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospital in 1996 where he was Professor of Surgical Oncology and Lead Colorectal Cancer Surgeon before leaving in 2010. He is currently Medical Director at The Princess Grace Hospital where he has continued his busy practice as a colorectal surgeon.

Professor Dorudi qualified in London in 1983, training extensively in general and colorectal surgery in Kent, London and Oxford. He continued to complete a senior speciality fellowship in colorectal surgery in Sydney, developing his skills in pelvic and rectal cancer surgery and undertook a period of research at the CRUK Colorectal Cancer Unit at St Mark's Hospital, London and was awarded his PhD in 1994. 

Professor Dorudi's research focuses on improving the prognostic stratification of colorectal cancer patients following surgery and the immunology of differing colorectal cancer phenotypes.
