Dr Vasileios Panoulas is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, where he treats private and NHS patients.

After graduating from the School of Medicine at the University of Ioannina, Greece, Dr Panoulas completed his PhD in genetic regulation of hypertenion in patients with rheumatoid arthritis at Russells Hall Hospital in Birmingham and the University of Ioannina.

From 2008-10, he underwent his core medical training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital. This was followed by his cardiology core training at Hammersmith Hospital where he was appointed as a National Heart and Lung Institute academic clinical fellow (2010-13).

He then undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy for a year (2013-14). He completed his MSc in interventional cardiology from Universita Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan, Italy.

Subsequently, he returned to London and was a North West London interventional fellow for two years at Hammersmith Hospital (2014-16). At this time, Dr Panoulas was a NIHR clinical lecturer in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He continues his academic work there now as an honorary senior clinical lecturer.

Dr John Walker is a Consultant Cardiologist at The Harley Street Clinic, HCA UK at University College Hospital and for the Barts Health NHS Trust. He specialises in cardiac rehabilitation, cardiovascular disease associated with inherited haemoglobinopathies - Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell disease.

He graduated from the University of Birmingham (honours in pre-clinical sciences) before specialising in cardiology at St.Thomas' Hospital & the Brompton Hospital, London and at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. His MD in 1983 involved studying the mechanical performance of human heart muscle.  In 1987 he was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist to University College and the Middlesex Hospitals.

As a consequence of his interest in patients with inherited diseases of haemoglobin, he established The Thalassaemia and Sickle Cardiac Centre at the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, UCLH. This was the world's first cardiology clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating young patients with inherited haemoglobinopathies.

Dr Walker is highly active in clinical research, with more than 60 publications in scientific and medical journals. He has made numberous book contribitions, including authorship of the cardiovascular disease chapeters of a major English language textbook of medicine. He was the Treasurer and then President of the British Association of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation from 2001 to 2006, as well as a Council member of the British Cardiovascular Society.

Mr Michael Henein is a Consultant Cardiologist based at The Harley Street Clinic, offering all aspects of general cardiology, transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echo and carotid scanning, with broad experience in reading cardiac CT scans.

Following 15 years at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Mr Henein now divides his time between England and Umea, Sweden, where he is Professor of Cardiology.

Dr Jonathan Hill is a renowned Consultant Cardiologist with HCA Healthcare at London Bridge Hospital, along with an NHS role at Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust. He offers clients a first-class service for all areas of cardiology. 

He qualified from Edinburgh University Medical School and Cambridge University with a Medical Degree in 1992. Following this, he completed his specialist cardiology training in London. His outstanding work led to him being awarded the first National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Bench to Bedside award. He spent time at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Mayland, USA where he gained invaluable experience and an international view into interventional research withing the cardiovascular field. He strong academic and professional background led to him being appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer at Kings College London. Dr Tito Kabir is a respected Consultant Cardiologist specialising in percutaneous coronary intervention via the radial (wrist) approach. He studied for his undergraduate medical degree at Guy’s Hospital Medical School (now part of King’s College London), where he was awarded the Hilton dissection medal.

He then completed his PhD in cardiovascular research at University College London Medical School. This PhD was funded by a prestigious British Heart Foundation scholarship and it resulted in several publications.

After spending time in research, Dr Kabir carried out his specialist interventional cardiology training at Royal Brompton and Hammersmith hospitals. He continued to develop his skills when he spent a year in Switzerland as a cardiology interventional trainee at the Le Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne.

He is currently developing a renal denervation programme at Harefield Hospital for resistant hypertension and is also involved in the percutaneous aortic valve programme. Dr. Kabir is also widely published in academic and medical journals.

Dr Nikesh Malik is a Consultant Cardiologist and Interventionalist at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and St George's Hospital in London, where he also completed his initial medical training. He specialises in all areas of general cardiology, with particular expertise in coronary intervention, including complex techniques and intravascular imaging.

He looks after cardiology inpatients and outpatients at Epsom Hospital and performs coronary angioplasty and stenting at St George's Hospital in London and St Anthony’s Hospital in Surrey.

He is involved in teaching medical students from St George's Hospital Medical School and from overseas and trains cardiology junior doctors and interventional fellows in all aspects of general cardiology and coronary intervention.

His research interests are in the prevention and treatment of coronary stent thrombosis and intravascular imaging and he has completed an MD thesis in this subject. He has co-ordinated and been a co-investigator for numerous national and international clinical trials and research studies and has published articles in high impact peer reviewed journals, as well as writing several book chapters.

Dr Mohamed Al-Obaidi is a Consultant Cardiologist whose practice encompasses patients with a variety heart disorders, including coronary artery disease, heart failure and patients requiring pacemaker implantation.

Dr Al-Obaidi completed his postgraduate research at the National Heart and Lung Institute, with his specialist training undertaken at the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

Dr Alexander Sirker works as a Consultant in Interventional and General Cardiology at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London.

He is Clinical Lead (Head of Department) for Cardiology at University College London Hospitals. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL).

Dr Sirker trained in medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating with First Class Honours in Physiology in 1994. He was awarded several prizes, an exhibition and three scholarships, then continued training at Cambridge University Clinical School, qualifying as a doctor in 1996 with a triple Distinction in the Final MB examinations.

His specialist training in Cardiology was undertaken at a number of leading cardiac centres, including the Royal Brompton, Harefield, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. His specific expertise in Interventional Cardiology was gained at King’s College Hospital, London and during an international fellowship year at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, British Columbia, Canada – a pioneering centre in the use of radial access for angioplasty and stenting.

He has specific expertise in coronary angiography, angioplasty and stenting procedures. Other invasive and interventional procedures undertaken by Dr Sirker include pressure wire studies, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and rotational atherectomy. His particular interests in Interventional Cardiology include i) use of the radial artery (at the wrist) for ‘keyhole’ access in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ii) complex coronary interventions, including treatment of bifurcation disease, calcified lesions and diseased bypass grafts.

With his broad background in General Adult Cardiology, Dr Sirker undertakes outpatient clinics at the main University College Hospital site, treating patients with conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, high blood pressure and heart failure. He sees patients with symptoms including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness and loss of consciousness.

He also deals with pre-operative cardiac assessment prior to non-cardiac surgery and with cardiovascular risk assessment more generally.

He has formal national accreditation in echocardiography and has trained in cardiac CT. He is also an accredited specialist in General (Internal) Medicine.

He also has a strong interest in clinical risk reduction and has acted as the site lead at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital for implementation of the new National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures across all medical specialities.

Dr Malcom Finlay is a Consultant Cardiologist at The Wellington Hospital and at the Barts Heart Centre. He specialises in ablation of atrial fibrillation, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) insertion and management, cardiac resynchronisation therapy insertion (bivent ICD), pacemaker insertion and management, implantable loop recorder insertion. He has performed over 500 catheter ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, and over 500 pacemaker and ICD procedures, including device implantation and generator changes. He has also developed severely new cardiac devices, which have been recognised by the European Heart Rhythm Association’s Innovation committee

He studied medicine at Oxford University and gained his PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology from University College London (UCL). Here he was made a Senior Clinical Research Fellow and appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2014. He holds honorary positions at UCL and Queen Mary University of London. He also collaborates closely with Medical Engineering and basic science departments at these institutions.

 Dr Finlay is actively involved in clinical research in his field, particularly into the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation and the use of novel technologies in investigation and treatment. He has published more than 40 papers and regularly speaks at international conferences. He is a member of the EHRA Scientific Initiatives Committee and EHRA Examination Committee, the British Heart Rhythm Society, EHRA and the European Cardiac Arrhythmia Society.
