Mr Andrew Davies is a Consultant General and laparoscopic surgeon. He is an Upper GI specialist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he performs a high volume of stomach and oesophageal surgery. The unit is one of the largest tertiary referral centers for oesophgeal and gastric cancer in the UK. Mr Davies also sees patients privately, including at The London Bridge Hospital.

His specialist areas include hernia repair (including open and keyhole surgery techniques), gallstones (cholecystectomy) and acid reflux / gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). Patients can also be assessed for oesophageal or gastric cancer, achalasia and GISTs (Gastro-intestinal stromal tumours). In addition Mr Davies performs endoscopy and a wide range of general surgery procedures including skin lumps and bumps.

Mr Davies has a strong academic background with a first class honours BSc, a Masters with distinction and an MD in the staging and management of oesophaegeal cancer. He leads the Guy's & St Thomas' Oesophago-gastric research group, is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferencs and is on the editorial board of the British Journal of Surgery. He sits on the research committeee of the international society of diseases of the esophagus (ISDE) and has ongoing research links with King's College London and the Karolinksa Institute in Stockholm, Sweden

During his higher surgical training in London, Mr Davies spent time at King’s College liver unit, the Royal Marsden and St Thomas’ hospitals. During this time he was also awarded two prestigious laparoscopic surgery fellowships to UPMC Pittsburgh, USA and Unitas MC, Pretoria, South Africa.

He is married to a surgeon (Sophie) and has three children.

Christopher Peters is a London based Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Harley Street Clinic. At the end of his surgical training he was appointed as a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, working at St Marys and Hammersmith Hospitals.

His sub speciality surgical interests include Oesophageal and Gastric cancer surgery, with radical lymphadenectomy, and benign Upper Gastrointestinal surgery including laparoscopic fundoplication and cholecystectomy. In addition, he has a great deal of experience of general and hernia surgery including complex redo incisional hernia repairs with a hybrid laparoscopic / open approach.

His research programme is built around understanding how we can use new technologies such as molecular profiling, genome sequencing, and other biomarkers to make better decisions about how we treat cancer patients.
