Mr Stewart Tucker is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon based in London, UK.

 In 1998 he successfully completed his MBBS at the Middlesex Hospital, UCL and later went onto undertake his FRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons England.

He has a specialist interest in both childhood and adult scoliosis/kyphosis, degenerative cervical and lumbar disease, spinal trauma and spinal tumours, and complex revision spinal surgery.

Mr Reza Mobasheri qualified from Guy & St Thomas' medical school in 1998. He completed his core surgical training in London and Surrey, before completing his orthopaedic training in South West London.

Mr Mobasheri's specialist interest is spinal surgery and he has completed a fellowship in complex spinal surgery at the internationally renowned Krembil neuroscience centre in Toronto, Canada.

Mr Mobasheri was appointed Consultant at Imperial Healthcare NHS trust in 2012 where he now co-runs the spinal service and is part of the vertebral compression fracture service.

I am a Consultant Spine Surgeon at the Royal London (Barts Health NHS Trust), London. My surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the North West Thames Orthopaedic rotation in London led to my FRCS (Orth) in Trauma and Orthopaedics. After Super-Specialist MCh(Orth) Degree in Trauma & Orthopaedics I trained on 3 advanced Spine surgery fellowships with specialist training in Endoscopic Spine Surgery from highly reputed centres in France and USA. My special interests are Endoscopic and Robotic Spine Surgery.

I am the Head of Clinical Governance at Royal London Hospital, London and am passionate about patient safety and risk awareness. I lecture on the MSc Orthopaedic postgraduate Master Course programme run by the Queen Mary University in London.

Mr Plaha is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with specialist interest in Brain tumour surgery. He completed his basic medical MBBS training in 1996 and General surgical MS degree training in 2000 from one of India's premier medical institutes at JIPMER, University of Pondicherry, India.

Mr. Plaha completed his neurosurgery training in Bristol and also an MD degree from Bristol in 2010. He has done a double fellowship in Endoscopy neurosurgery and Skull base brain tumour surgery from Oxford, 2010- 2012. Since Aug 2012; making him highly skilled in his field. He has been a Consultant neurosurgeon with a substantive post since August 2013 at the John Radcliffe Oxford University Hospitals.

Mr. Plaha has developed new techniques for minimally invasive endoscopic resection of brain tumours and established advanced techniques for awake brain tumour surgery. He has vast experience in awake brain tumour surgery and performs some of the highest number of awake brain tumour operations in the UK.

In addition to his sucessful practice, he is active in the field of research and leads a research group into understanding brain networks affected by brain tumours, looking into novel surgical modalities which make brain surgery safer, understanding immunotherapy for brain tumours and novels clinical trials for brain cancer. He has published numerous papers in his speacialism brain tumour surgery, and is a tutor at the College of Surgeons of England and faculty at international course. He is Director of the “Oxford 3D White fibre Course” and teaches neurosurgeons the anatomy and techniques of awake brain tumour surgery.

Mr Syed Aftab is a Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal London (Barts Health NHS Trust). He studied medicine at Pembroke College, Cambridge University and Edinburgh University.

He underwent higher surgical training in Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery on the London NE Thames rotation at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. He also gained a Master of Science at University College London in Trauma and Orthopaedics during his training. Syed completed advanced fellowships in Spinal Surgery at the Royal London Hospital.

Furthermore, he continues to broaden his experience with visitations to international centres of excellence for spinal surgery (Antwerp Belgium, Bordeaux France, Neustadt Germany and Orlando USA). Syed has been pioneering the iMAS technique in the UK, using micro access techniques developed by Dr Robert Masson at Neurospine Institute, Orlando, USA (a Federally accredited Centre of Excellence). Syed believes that the best outcomes for patients can only be achieved when decisions are carefully considered and works within the framework of a multidisciplinary team.

He is the Clinical Effectiveness Lead for Orthopaedics at the Royal London and is actively involved in teaching other doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. He organizes the ‘Spine Term’ for the Royal London Hospital and Sir Percival Pott Orthopaedic Rotations. Syed has published widely in a number of peer-reviewed medical journals and is actively involved in research into spinal surgery. He has presented at national and international conferences.

Mr Laing was appointed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon, with an interest in spinal neurosurgery, at Addenbrookes Hospital in 1995. His practice includes both complex spinal neurosurgery and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, which can often be performed as day cases. He specialises in the treatment of back pain, leg pain (sciatica), neck pain, arm pain (brachalgia), trauma, tumours, (fusion) Chiari and syringomyelia. In 2000 Mr Laing was appointed director of higher neurosurgical training for the Eastern Deanery. He was directly involved in neurosurgical training both at local level and at the Royal College of Surgeons in London. In addition Mr Laing has been secretary of the British Cervical Spine Society and worked to establish the British Association of Spine Surgeons where he served on the Executive. In 2009 Mr Laing became Clinical Lead for Neurosurgery at Addenbrookes and in 2013 Clinical Director of Neurosciences. He has overseen many changes within the Neurosurgical centre and introduced key initiatives including day case spinal surgery. He is a Council member of the Society of British Neurological surgeons and has been appointed to the Neuroscience clinical commissioning group. Mr Laing believes that the most important development in spinal surgery over the last few years has been the introduction of minimally invasive surgical techniques, which significantly shortens the recovery time.He also works as part of a team of experts, collaborating with physiotherapists, sports medicine physicians, neurologists, rheumatologists and pain specialists. He aspires to achieve the highest standards, audit his practice and publish his surgical outcomes in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr Julian Leong is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon and the Surgical Tutor at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. 

His specialist Orthopaedic training was based at the UCLH/Middlesex rotation, including Spinal surgery training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore. He completed fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Norman Capener Fellowship), and Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan).

Mr Leong is also an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at UCL, with research interests in Surgical Technology and Surgical Skills Training and Assessment, completing his PhD thesis in Hand-eye coordination in Surgery at Imperial College London.

Mr Erlick Pereira is a renowned and respected Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon at the St George's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he founded deep brain stimulation and spinal cord stimulation services for movement disorders and pain. He has clinical interests in chronic pain, cancer pain, minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery, movement disorders, surgery following trauma, slipped disc management and treatment of trapped nerves. Mr Pereira uses advanced technologies such as microscopes, endoscopes, image guidance systems and stereotactic frames. His surgery is often minimally invasive and done asleep for patient comfort.

He studied psychology at Cambridge then medicine in Oxford before neurosurgery training there. He did a fellowship in orthopaedic spinal surgery at Guy's and St Thomas'. Mr Pereira is Reader in Neurosurgery at St George's, University of London and Visiting Professor at the University of Porto with research interests in wearable technology, AI, neuromodulation, electroceuticals and brain and spine computer interfaces for movement disorders, pain and spinal cord injury. His outstanding work has been recognised internationally, winning the American Association of Neurosurgical Surgeons WJ Sweet Award, Congress of Neurological Surgeons Ron Tasker Award and the Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has published over 140 full peer-reviewed papers, two books and 30 book chapters including in Gray's Anatomy. He regularly presents internationally, appraises colleagues in the NHS and Harley Street and advises medical device companies.

Mr. Pereira lives in London. He recently gave up playing football due to injury but still enjoys cycling, reading, writing, teaching, films and classic cars.

Mr John O'Dowd is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon, regarded as an expert in this field as a result of his ever-present keen interest in conjunction with the respected position in the world of back pain he has established. He has extensive experience diagnosing, treating and managing all types of spinal conditions and disorders, seeing both private patients as well as preparing medico-legal reports for people who have suffered spinal injuries. 

Mr O’Dowd is in a full-time clinical practice dedicated to the treatment of common spinal problems and although he has surgical expertise, his main focus is to offer non-surgical interventions. His clinical history includes being an honorary consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the National Hospital for Neurology at Queen Square, as well as reconstructive spinal specialist surgeon, performing complex reconstructive procedures in adults, and scoliosis surgery in children. He has a real interest in all conditions affecting the spine and takes a unique biopsychosocial approach to treat each person.

Mr O’Dowd has a strong interest in non-surgical management of chronic back pain, aiding in numerous revolutionary projects including the evidence-based organisation RealHealth Institute, providing multidisciplinary assessment and treatment programmes for patients with chronic and complex spinal pain, including functional restoration and pain management programmes. He also acts as a medical expert in spinal injuries, whiplash injury and workplace back injury. He is now the clinical director of the RealHealth Institute in Holland, which is a national referral centre for non-surgical care in complex low back pain.
