Education

General Obstetrics & Gynaecology She gained her MD at the University of London in 2009. She also has a Masters degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and an MRC scholarship. Asma is the Lead for the Multiple Pregnancy service at St George’s Hospital.

She has published more than 300 peer reviewed papers, and many published review articles and chapters. She was awarded many research prizes, both at national and international meetings. Her research interests include twin pregnancy, fetal growth restriction and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.

She is passionate about innovation. She is the inventor of the HAMPTON, which is an award-winning digital innovation which enables pregnant women to monitor their blood pressure safely at home. She is a National Innovation Accelerator (NIA) Fellow.

She is committed to the implementation of clinical guidelines in practice and believes that they could reduce inequalities in care across the NHS. She had a three year Fellowship with NICE and has been a member of the NICE Clinical Standards and Expert Advisor to the NICE Centre for Clinical guidelines.

She is an Editor for the Ultrasound on obstetrics and Gynecology Journal. She works closely with the Twins trust Charity and together has set up the world-first Twins Trust Centre for Research and Clinical Excellence at St George’s Hospital.

Miss Theresa Freeman-Wang is a dedicated consultant gynaecologist with specialist interests in cervical screening, colposcopy, lower genital tract pre-malignancy (including perianal and anal disease), vulval disorders, menstrual problems, menopause, and post-menopausal bleeding. She takes a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and works as a team with other health professionals in order to treat conditions effectively.

Miss Freeman-Wang graduated from Bristol Medical School in 1989 having taken elective training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Harvard Medical University and Shanghai Medical University. In 1991, she joined the Royal Free Hospital as a senior house officer where she later became a registrar and research fellow. It was here that Miss Freeman-Wang completed research assessing women’s anxiety associated with cervical pre-malignancy treatment, and she was awarded the BMA TP Gunton Research Award for her work.

In 2002, Miss Freeman-Wang joined the Whittington Hospital. She is the lead clinician for the colposcopy and vulval services, runs a multizonal clinic for the managment of women with premalignant changes of the lower genital tract, and deputises for the gynaecology oncology unit lead. She has also spent time as the clinical director for women and children's health. She set up and chaired the Colposcopy Users Group at Portland Hospital between 2012 -2021. She has been a professional adviser and director for cervical screening across London. 

Miss Freeman-Wang is currently the President of the BSCCP and Secretary-General of the International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy. She is also Vice Chair of the National Advisory Committee for cervical screening and a member of the NHS colposcopy clinical group.

Her other clinical interests are the management of vulval disorders including vulvodynia. She is a member of the International Society for the study of vulvovaginal disease and a member of the British Menopause Society.

In her spare time she enjoys art and medical history, theatre and boxercise. Although not a practitioner, she is also learning more about western and chinese herbal medicine.

Mr Rehan Salim is a consultant gynaecologist and subspecialist in reproductive medicine at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. He graduated in medicine from St Andrew’s University & King’s College London, later completing subspecialty training in reproductive medicine at University College London Hospital. Following this, he was then appointed as consultant at UCLH where he led the Reproductive Medicine Unit, developing the NHS IVF service. Owing to his extensive medical expertise, he was recruited by Johns Hopkins International in 2012 to set up and run the IVF centre at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi, the largest women’s hospital in United Arab Emirates, which he did until his return to the UK to take up his appointment at St Mary’s. He has wide experience in IVF and provides a highly individualised approach to patients, tailor making protocols to achieve the highest pregnancy rates. An area of particular interest is patients who have had previous failed fertility treatment or who are considered poor responders to IVF treatment.

Not only this, Mr Salim also has a special interest and extensive experience in reproductive surgery and is able to perform most surgical procedures via minimal access techniques (laparoscopy or hysteroscopy) including myomectomies and excision of endometriosis.
