Dr David Lipkin is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in the assessment of chest pain, coronary artery disease, coronary angioplasty and stenting and other forms of coronary intervention. More recently, he has become involved in the percutaneous replacement of the aortic valve (TAVI). His special interests lie in heart failure, valvular heart diseases, pacing, hypertension and syncope (blackouts).

Dr Lipkin trained at the London Chest, Royal Brompton, National Heart and Hammersmith Hospitals in London. 

Dr Lipkin is the Cardiology Representative on the Medical Advisory Committee at the Wellington Hospital. He is the Medical Director of the Wellington Diagnostic and Outpatient Centre in Golders Green and is the Co-Medical Director of the Clinical Investigation and Research Centre at the Wellington Hospital.

Konstantinos Savvatis is a Consultant Cardiologist in the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases Unit at Barts Heart Centre in London and Honorary Associate Professor in University College London and Queen Mary University London. He trained at the Department of Cardiology at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany, one of the largest centres in Europe focusing on dilated and inflammatory cardiomyopathy. He acquired his PhD on the immunomodulatory role of matrix metalloproteinases in acute myocarditis and continued working as Clinician Scientist at the Charité and the Centre for Regenerative Therapies focusing on the role of fibrosis and fibroblasts in heart failure and cardiomyopathy.

His main clinical and academic interests are genetic and inflammatory cardiomyopathies and, especially, the risk assessment and therapy of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and cardiac involvement in Neuromuscular Conditions (limb girdle, Duchenne and Becker’s muscular dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy, Friedreich’s ataxia).

He is specialised in advanced cardiovascular MRI and echocardiography.

His work has been published in several high impact journals, such as Nature Communications, Circulation, Circulation Research, JACC and European Heart Journal.

Ken Anson is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Reader in Urology at St George’s University Hospitals.  He has been providing world class care to urology patients in the United Kingdom and beyond for over 20 years and has introduced many new surgical techniques to help patients who suffer from urological issues such as urinary stone disease, ureteric obstruction and sepsis in his urology practice.  He is a high volume surgeon performing ureteroscopy, ureterorenoscopy, laser fragmentation of ureteric stones, PCNL, bladder stone destruction, ESWL on regular occasions. 

Mr Anson has had a long track record in Urological research and for the past decade has worked with colleagues to deliver a nationally funded research pipeline to answer some of the most important questions in urinary stone disease.  The first published trial (the SUSPEND study) has helped change worldwide practice for the benefit of patients.

Mr Anson is a leading specialist in many urological conditions but foremost is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary stone disease.  However he is also involved in helping patients suffering from blood in the urine, ureteric obstruction, ureteric colic, urinary symptoms, urinary infections, sepsis and benign prostatic diseases.  He enjoys a national and international reputation as an Endourology expert and has published extensively in this area.  He regularly lectures and teaches at both home and abroad about urinary stone disease and the use of technology to improve patient outcomes.

Alongside his clinical work Ken has held important management roles including serving as a St George's Divisional Chairman for three years.  He has been Secretary and Chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons’ (BAUS) Section of Endourology and been a BAUS trustee for 5 years.  He is now Treasurer and a Trustee of the British Journal of Urology International charity and works with The Urology Foundation on Endourological projects.  He is also an Examiner and Assessor for the Intercollegiate Urology Examination (and examines nationally and internationally) and is the Royal College of Surgeon’s representative on the Intercollegiate Examination Board of Urology.

In his spare time Ken likes to fly-fish for trout, salmon and sea bass, ski, sail and walk his flat coated retriever Bracken.

Dr Sam Firoozi is a Consultant Cardiologist at St George’s Hospital. He graduated in 1995 from Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals Medical School. Subsequently, he completed his medical and cardiology training in several London teaching hospitals, including Guy’s, Thomas’, George’s, Hammersmith and Royal Brompton Hospitals.

In 1999 he achieved the British Heart Foundation Fellowship and between 2002 and 2008 he undertook further training specifically looking into heart muscle disorders and sports cardiology at St George’s Hospital. Dr Firoozi is the UK accredited in both Cardiology and General Internal Medicine. In 2009 he became a Consultant General and Interventional Cardiologist in the Cardiothoracic unit, he has a specialist interest in high-risk coronary intervention, intracoronary imaging and physiology. He has further developed the practice and consults a high volume of patients on a day-to-day basis.

Dr Firoozi is also involved in higher medical education for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is also an active member of several organisations including The British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and The British Cardiac Interventional Society (BCIS).
