Dr Salim Janmohamed is an experienced, senior Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, specialising in Diabetes and General Medicine. He undertook medical training at University College Hospital London, including a BSc degree in pharmacology, and he qualified with a triple distinction (honours) MBBS degree in 1988. Dr Janmohamed then underwent postgraduate training in a number of academic and clinical institutions in London and Oxford, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1991. Since then, he has specialised in Endocrinology and Diabetes. He has also spent four years researching pituitary disease and the genetics of diabetes and obesity.

Dr Janmohamed was appointed as a Consultant 1999 and he practices in a number of London Hospitals, including The Wellington and Royal Free Hospitals. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London. His specialist interests include metabolism, thyroid and parathyroid disease, pituitary and adrenal disorders, obesity, sex/reproductive hormones, osteoporosis and hormonal treatments. He is also involved in international clinical research of novel and emerging medicines for cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Professor Clive Handler is an experienced consultant cardiologist working in the National Pulmonary Hypertension Unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London, and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital.  He is an Honorary Clinical Professor, Division of Medicine, UCL. His first NHS consultant appointment was at Northwick Park and St Mary's Hospitals and he was also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College.  

He has considerable experience in general adult cardiology with expertise in pulmonary hypertension and unexplained breathlessness, cardiovascular prevention, high blood pressure, heart failure, chest pain, palpitation and dizzy turns.

He is a tutor and examiner at UCL, he serves on the selection panel for UCL Medical School and King’s College School of Medicine, and is an expert adviser to NICE, the Medical Research Council, and an appointed reviewer of papers submitted to the European Society of Cardiology; his opinion is sought in complex medico-legal cases. 

Professor Handler was educated at Dulwich College and qualified in medicine from Guy's Hospital Medical School where he also did an Honours BSc degree in pharmacology. He trained in general medicine and cardiology at the Royal Brompton, London Chest, Charing Cross, Guy's, and University College and the Middlesex Hospitals, and did additional training in cardiology in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has longstanding links with Yale University School of Medicine.

Professor Handler was awarded an MRC Fellowship to do an intercalated degree in Pharmacology at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London and was an MRC Fellow at Guy's Hospital, where he was awarded his MD degree for his research thesis on exercise testing after heart attacks.

He is an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Professor Handler is a founder member and committee member of the UCL/King’s/ Queen Mary’s faculty for the annual cardiovascular biology conference at the Royal College of Physicians and the Founder and Chairman of the St Paul's School Medical Conference for widening participation in medicine. 

He is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society and Physicians group of the UK and Ireland Pulmonary Hypertension Society. He is also a member of the FLARRE research cross-faculty research group at UCL and active in clinical research trials and a member of an international safety and clinical events committee for drug trials. 

Professor Handler is the author or editor of 13 textbooks for scientists, students, GPs and patients, he has written numerous scientific papers and is a Freeman of the City of London.

Dr John Walker is a Consultant Cardiologist at The Harley Street Clinic, HCA UK at University College Hospital and for the Barts Health NHS Trust. He specialises in cardiac rehabilitation, cardiovascular disease associated with inherited haemoglobinopathies - Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell disease.

He graduated from the University of Birmingham (honours in pre-clinical sciences) before specialising in cardiology at St.Thomas' Hospital & the Brompton Hospital, London and at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. His MD in 1983 involved studying the mechanical performance of human heart muscle.  In 1987 he was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist to University College and the Middlesex Hospitals.

As a consequence of his interest in patients with inherited diseases of haemoglobin, he established The Thalassaemia and Sickle Cardiac Centre at the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, UCLH. This was the world's first cardiology clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating young patients with inherited haemoglobinopathies.

Dr Walker is highly active in clinical research, with more than 60 publications in scientific and medical journals. He has made numberous book contribitions, including authorship of the cardiovascular disease chapeters of a major English language textbook of medicine. He was the Treasurer and then President of the British Association of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation from 2001 to 2006, as well as a Council member of the British Cardiovascular Society.
