Mr Rohit Jain is currently based at Medway Maritime Hospital where he is the Clinical Director & Consultant Orthopaedic Hip, Knee & Trauma Surgeon. Further to being a fellowship-trained specialist in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, Mr Jain has a keen interest in trauma and enhanced recovery surgery and rehabilitation, as well as young adult hip pathology.

In 2019, the NHS Trust awarded Mr Jain with the Clinical Excellence Award, thanks to his commitment and concerted efforts to improving patient care and supporting the education of young surgeons. Receiving consistent recognition and praise from his patients for his outstanding care, he also achieved the Certificate of Excellence Award by the 'I Want Great Care' organisation in 2019.

Throughout his career, Mr Jain has undertaken extensive training. He completed his specialist training on the distinguished North Western Deanery Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery Training Programme. He then went on to complete subspecialty training in hip & knee arthroplasty at the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Canada. Whilst he was there, the University of Toronto awarded him a Fellowship Diploma. This has been further complemented by completing the Sir John Charnley Arthroplasty Fellowship at the UK's centre of orthopaedic excellence, Wrightington Hospital, the National British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Transitional Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship and the Academic Exchange Programme at the globally renowned ENDO-Klinik in Hamburg, Germany.

Passionate about educating and sharing his expertise, Mr Jain is a clinical and educational supervisor for junior doctors, an instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support and a teacher on the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS) exam revision courses. He is also on the panel of reviewers for the reputable Bone & Joint Journal and is a member of numerous professional associations and societies. Mr Michael Thilagarajah is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon, specialising in lower limb problems. Alongside his private practice, he is currently based at Darent Valley NHS Hospital in Kent. He has been a consultant for 16 years.

Mr Thilagarajah graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School and went on to complete his specialist surgical training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and a number of Kent NHS hospitals. Prior to his current post, he was appointed Consultant foot and ankle surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas'. In his present position, Mr Thilagarajah is currently Trauma Lead and Lead Foot and Ankle surgeon, and has fifteen years experience in performing hip and knee replacements. He has been the lead for fractured hips for nine years and transformed the quality of service provided for this vulnerable patient group. He offers an up-to-date trauma and sports service.

Outside his practice, Mr Thilagarajah is very passionate about training future surgeons, acting as College Tutor for Orthopaedics at Darent Valley Hospital and often teaching at Royal College of Surgeons Surgical Skills courses.

Mr Alvin Chen is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions in the hip and knee, including sports injuries, arthritis and trauma. His NHS base is at King’s College Hospital, one of the busiest hospitals in London, where he manages patients with complex lower limb trauma injuries, as well as routine elective hip and knee surgery.

Following his National Service in Singapore, where he finished as a Lieutenant, Alvin attended and graduated from King’s College Medical School in 1999. He also completed a BSc in Neuroscience with honours at University College London, where he undertook research into nerve disorders and conditions. Alvin has also completed a degree in law (LLB) from Queen Mary and Westfield College in London.

He then gained a broad training in aspects of accident & emergency medicine, orthopaedic, general and neurosurgery through hospitals in NW Thames and finally, the Royal National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen’s Square. During his training, Alvin obtained both the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, passed the Bar Vocational Course (BVC and member of Lincoln’s Inn), as well as completing a further MSc from Imperial College in Surgical Technology, all the while continuing his training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Alvin obtained a place on the North West Thames Orthopaedic Training programme in 2006 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2011. He also undertook further fellowship training in hip and knee surgery at both the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) at Stanmore, and High Wycombe.

Prior to completing his orthopaedic training, Alvin pursued a Doctorate-level degree in Orthopaedic Research at the prestigious Imperial College London and was awarded a Doctor in Medicine (Research) in 2016 by the College.

He joined the specialist register for trauma and orthopaedics in 2013 and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital in 2014.

Alvin has an interest in orthopaedic research, with over 35 podium and poster publications, as well as papers in peer reviewed journals, both as part of, and separate to his work on his Doctorate. He is published in areas such as medical litigation, cost analysis of knee replacements and also orthopaedic education. He has retained a strong interest in orthopaedic education, and is a Course Director for the well regarded Bi-annual King’s College FRCS Revision course, as well as contributing to the simulation, trauma and IM nailing courses run at King’s. In addition, he is the Local Educational Faculty Lead for the Orthopaedic Department of King’s College Hospital.
