Mr Tom Holland is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, who also sees patients privately, including at The London Bridge Hospital. He specialises in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology, gynaecological ultrasound, minimal access surgery and complex benign gynaecology.
He undertook preclinical at Cambridge University and clinical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’, where he qualified in 2001. He then completed postgraduate training in London, working in several teaching hospitals, including King’s College, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and University College Hospital. During training, he undertook a two-year research fellowship, where he investigated the role of gynaecological ultrasound in the management of women with endometriosis. The conclusion drawn from this was that ultrasound can be used to assess the severity of endometriosis and so guide treatment decisions. He was awarded a research degree – MD – in 2013, and went on to complete general training and advanced laparoscopic surgery training at University College Hospital.
Mr Holland is highly skilled in performing early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound and he is regularly invited to lecture on the subject. He performs open and minimally invasive surgery for conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, benign ovarian cysts and other conditions.
