Dr Sameer Zar is a consultant gastroenterologist practising at the Royal Marsden NHS Hospital and at Epsom and St. Helier NHS Trust, where he is currently lead for Upper GI Cancer.

His specialist clinical interests include upper and lower GI cancer, IBS, Crohn’s and colitis, reflux disease, Barrett’s oesophagus and pancreas and liver disorders, treating and managing patients with these conditions. He is a recognised expert in colonoscopy, endoscopy and ERCP, and runs a GI physiology laboratory and specialist hepatitis service at the St Helier Hospital. He also offers oesophageal manometry and pH studies. Dr Zar underwent his postgraduate training in gastroenterology and general medicine in 2005 in the South West Thames Scheme. As part of his training, he undertook a PhD on the topic of food-specific serum antibodies and the effect of food on bowel motility in irritable bowel syndrome.

He has an interest in academic research, having published a number of articles in peer-reviewed international journals. As well as English Dr Zar can speak Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi with his patients in the clinic.

Professor Steve Pereira studied science and medicine at University of New South Wales, Sydney, with postgraduate training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Guy’s and King’s College hospitals, London. Pereira did advanced endoscopy training in Paris, Amsterdam and Indianapolis.

Since 2000, Steve Pereira has been a consultant at University College Hospital and at Royal Free Hospital since 2008. He is also a Professor of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at UCL.

Pereira's clinical and research interests focus on the causes, early diagnosis and treatment of liver and pancreatic cancer, as well as benign biliary and pancreatic diseases. These represent a vast number of patients referred for specialist opinion to UCLH, and the activity of the research group is linked closely with the clinical hepatopancreaticobiliary service at UCLH and the Royal Free.

Steve Pereira is past Chairman of the British Society of Gastroenterology Pancreatic Section and President of the Pancreatic Society of GB&I, and current Endoscopy lead on the HPB Board of London Cancer as well as serving on the research committees of the British Society of Gastroenterology and Guts UK.

In his spare time he likes to focus on fitness and he loves spending time with his family.

Dr Sheena Mankodi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at The Whittington Hospital where she is clinical lead for gastroenterology and lead for the capsule endoscopy service.  She qualified with distinction from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2006 with an MBBS degree and a first class honours degree in physiology (BSc).  She completed her post graduate training in North East London and is on the GMC Specialist Register, accredited in both Gastroenterology and General (Internal) Medicine.

Dr Christos TOUMPANAKIS MD, PhD, FRCP, FEBGH, AGAF is a Consultant in Gastroenterology & Neuroendocrine Tumours (NET) at the Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit – ENETS Centre of Excellence of Royal Free Hospital, London, UK, since 2007. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor at University College of London (UCL) and has been awarded 7 times, as “Top-Teacher of the Year”. He graduated from Medical School-University of Athens, Greece in 1994, obtained his Specialty Title in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in 2004, and his PhD from University of Athens in 2007. Dr Sara McCartney is a consultant gastroenterologist at The Wellington Hospital with special interests in general gastroenterology, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, diverticular disease, bowel cancer screening and adolescent gastroenterology.

Dr McCartney is an accreditated bowel cancer screening colonoscopist in the National screening programme and is an examiner in colonoscopic accreditation. Anton Emmanuel obtained his medical degree from London University. He is an academic Neuro-Gastroenterologist at University College London and Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square). Prior to this he was Senior Lecturer at Imperial College and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Mark's Hospital.

His clinical work encompasses being director of the GI Physiology Unit at University College Hospital as well as providing a general gastroenterology service. His research includes basic gut neurophysiology and the study of the aetiology and management of functional gastrointestinal disorders of the upper and lower gut. He currently supervises 5 post-graduate research fellows undertaking higher degrees. Laboratory work is undertaken jointly with colleagues in UCL. He is the Editor of the journal Frontline Gastroenterology.
