Richard Field is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the management of hip related problems. He is the Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, St George's University of London. His NHS clinical practice is undertaken at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) where he has been the Director of Research since 2004. His Private Practice is undertaken at The Lister Hospital in Chelsea and occasionally at SWLEOC.

Prof Field is the UK's most experienced surgeon in Direct Anterior (minimally invasive, muscle sparing) Hip Replacement and has been using this approach since 2008. He uses the standard longitudinal and the less visible, bikini incisions, as appropriate. He lectures internationally and has operated with surgeons in more than ten countries. He is a pioneer of Arthroscopic Hip surgery and was the President of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA - www.ISHA.net) in 2017. He was the first surgeon in the London area to adopt hip resurfacing and continues to use the Birmingham Resurfacing Hip (BHR) in selected patients. Prof Field has been actively involved in the design and evaluation of new implant designs since 1983. He is currently undertaking clinical studies on short femoral stem implants as well as some of the new generation of hip resurfacing designs. He is comfortable using robotic assisted surgery and patient specific custom cutting blocks to achieve optimal component alignment, where appropriate. Patients wishing to be considered for inclusion in studies on new implants may need to be treated at SWLEOC.

Prof Field completed his medical training at the Westminster Hospital in 1980 and went on to hold positions at a number of hospitals across London, including St Stephen's Hospital, University College Hospital, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. After being awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1988, he continued to his specialist training in Orthopaedics in London, Cambridge and Melbourne. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St Helier Hospital, Surrey in 1994. Over the past 25 years, he has gained enormous experience in complex sports and developmental related hip problems and is a world leader in hip preservation and rapid recovery hip replacement surgery.  He continues to undertake over 200 hip operations per year. He has previously been an adviser to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.

Excisional nerve sparing endoscopic / robotic endometriosis surgery of any complexity

Center's multidisciplinary team offers top surgical expertise in excisional nerve sparing, radical and fertility preserving treatment options of severe infiltrating endometriosis. Our aim is to avoid multiple surgical operations for deep endometriosis and clear the disease in a single surgical procedure. We use principles of conservative radicality and nerve sparing and our target is to remove the disease and cause minimal collateral damage to other pelvic organs, nerves and blood vessels.

Ongoing Care and Patient Support

Harley Street Clinic Endometriosis Centre is a coordinated multidisciplinary network. It offers comprehensive and personalised approach to endometriosis from all aspects.

This is the the clinic where gynaecology endometriosis surgeons, specialist endometriosis nurse, colorectal (bowel) surgeon, urologist, anaesthetists, chronic pain specialists, gastroenterologists, and consultant radiologist, specialising in endometriosis work together and always discuss the treatment of patients with severe endometriosis on multidisciplinary team meetings (MDM)

Apart from the core medical specialists our patients will have access to clinical psychologist, complimentary medicine specialist and psycho-sexual councillor. Bowel Endometriosis

For suspected deep infiltrating endometriosis of the bowel clinic offers offer extensive pre-operative assessment including special MRI scan to asssess the extent of the disease before surgery. If deep infiltrating endometriosis of the bowel is confirmed by the MRI we offer surgical treatment options which may include bowel shaving, disciod stapler bowel resection or, for large or multiple bowel endometriosis nodules - economical segmental bowel resection. All these procedures are performed laparoscopically. Our surgical audit data shows excellent results in improving patients quality of life, pain levels and sexual function. Our serious complications rate for bowel endometriosis surgery is very low and we take enourmous efforts to maintain patients well being before, during and after surgery.

Urinary Tract Endometriosis

Our multidisciplinary team has vast experience in surgical treatment of deep infiltrating endometriosis of the bladder and ureters. If bladder endometriosis is confirmed by the MRI we offer excisional treatment which may include full thicknes bladder nodules excision, bladder reconstruction and ureteric re-implantation. All these procedures are performed laparoscopically. After surgery we offer bladder physiotherapy support to enhance post surgical recovery and speed up patients return to normality.

Diaphragmatic Endometriosis

We offer excisional treatment for confirmed diaphragmatic endometriosis. These operations are performed by a joint surgical team involving gynaecology, upper GI and thoracic surgeons. Procedures are performed endoscopically.

Mr. Tsepov widely participates in major European and Global meetings dedicated to complex gynaecological surgery and endometriosis as faculty member and invited speaker. Mr. Tsepov has received Surgical Video Competition Award by British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy in Edinburgh UK in 2018 and Silver Video Surgery Award by British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy in Newport, UK in 2019. Dr Sean Preston is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health, the UK's largest NHS Trust. He graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, Paddington in 1995. The majority of his postgraduate training was centred at Barts and the London NHS Trust (a major London Teaching Hospital), in addition to a year spent in Sydney as an Advanced Endoscopy Fellow, prior to his appointment as a Consultant at Barts in 2006.

His clinical practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of gastro oesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), Barrett's oesophagus, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, in addition to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy of the oesophagus, stomach and colon. He has a keen interest in gut health and gastrointestinal microbiota (bacteria, viruses and fungi) and uses both diet, pre and probiotics in the achievement and maintenance of optimal conditions within the bowel. Clinical consultations are structured to allow patients sufficient time to explain all their symptoms and to fully understand for the cause of their concerns.

His PhD, undertaken at Cancer Research UK, London, outlined the role of stem cells in gastrointestinal cancers and led to several significant publications in the field.

He is Director of Endoscopy at Barts Health and his endoscopic expertise relates to gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound and he is an accredited colonoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (requiring a rigorous accreditation process and continual audit of key performance indicators). He has written numerous key papers and book chapters on gastrointestinal cancer and continues his research in Barrett's oesophagus.

Dr Preston also featured in the 2013 Tatler Doctors Guide of Britain's top 250 consultants. He was President of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine from 2015-2017 and is currently Chairman of the Specialists' Committee for the Independent Doctors' Federation.

He has also helped to develop both the robotic cystectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy programmes at Guy’s Hospital and is the highest volume surgeon for both robotic partial nephrectomy and upper tract robotics in the UK. Dr Adam Humphries is a consultant gastroenterologist and specialist endoscopist at St Mark's Hospital, Harrow, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for intestinal disorders and endoscopy. He is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy and his sub-specialist interests include bowel cancer screening and prevention (nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist), colonoscopy and polypectomy, gastroscopy, small bowel diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, video capsule endoscopy, trans-nasal endoscopy and double-balloon enteroscopy. Dr Humphries also leads the small bowel endoscopy service at St Mark's Hospital, a national referral centre and one of only a few sites in the UK that provides double-balloon enteroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases.

In 2007 Dr Humphries was awarded a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and subsequently gained a PhD in 2012 from University College London for his research into the biology of gastrointestinal tumours.
