Professor Stuart Bloom is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London with his private practices operating at HCA Healthcare UK's, The Wellington Hospital and the Physicians' Clinic. Prof Bloom's special interests lie in general gastroenterology, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, diverticular disease, food intolerance, coeliac disease and gastro-oesophageal reflux. He set up the Bowel cancer screening programme at UCLH and is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist.

He has been a consultant since 1996 and has been chair of the IBD section of the British Society of Gastroenterology. He is medical director for the UK Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Registry.

Prof Bloom has been researching the cause of Colitis and Crohn's disease and together with Professor Tony Segal at the Raine Institute, he has published a recent paper on the latest findings on the causes of the illness.

Professor Martyn Caplin is Professor of Gastroenterology and Tumour Neuroendocrinology at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London.

Specific interests: general gastroenterology problems (including complex); endoscopy including gastroscopy and colonoscopy; diet associated g.i symptoms and disease; neuroendocrine tumours;

Prof Caplin leads the Royal Free Hospital European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society Centre of Excellence. He leads scientific and clinical research programmes into these rare cancers across University College London. He was elected Chairman of European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society 2014-2016 and now serves on its advisory board. He is a founder and Past-Chairman of the UK & Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his clinical leadership and research in the field of rare cancers. He was a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and a Past-Chairman of the rare cancer group. He is currently Chairman of the European Union Reference Network for Rare Cancers for neuroendocrine tumours.

He was previously the clinical lead for “NHS Evidence” for Gastroenterology and Liver diseases (under the auspices of NICE).

He has a particular interest in diet and disease and has published on the evidence base for diet and food supplements and their impact on disease. 


He has published over 200 peer review medical papers, written multiple book chapters and co-authored two books. He regularly lectures both nationally and internationally.

Dr Dhar sees and treats patients with all general liver conditions including alcohol-related liver disease, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, and autoimmune disorders of the liver. He provides comprehensive care for patients with cirrhosis and its complications, including portal hypertension, ascites and portal hypertension, pre- and post-transplant medical care

Dr Dhar is actively involved in clinical research and has a keen interest in care for patients with cirrhosis and prevention of liver fibrosis. He has co-authored a large number of peer-review publications and regularly presents at national and international conferences. Dr Dhar is also passionate about teaching and he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, and is currently responsible for the Hepatology section of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM).

Dr Ray Shidrawi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with many over three decades of experience in the treatment and management of G.I conditions, including inflammatory bowel diseases, coeliac disease and food intolerances.
