Mr Rob Pollock specialises in the management of hip and knee conditions as well as bone and soft tissue tumours throughout the body. He was the Clinical Director of the Joint Reconstruction and Sarcoma Units from 2017-2021 at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and has been a consultamt there since 2004. His private practice is run at The Princess Grace and The Wellington Hospitals operated by HCA Healthcare UK.
Mr Pollock has extensive experience in first time and revision hip and knee replacements and limb salvage surgery for musculo-skeletal tumours.
Qualifying at University College London in 1993 with a first class honours degree, his orthopaedic training took place in various London teaching hospitals including UCLH, St Mary's and the RNOH. He then undertook fellowships in Sydney, Australia and Denver, USA where he gained experience in hip and knee replacement, arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, and the management of bone tumours.
In 2008 he was awarded the prestigious American, British and Canadian (ABC) Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association. He spent six weeks visiting the premier orthopaedic clinics in North America and the experience he gained has been of great benefit to him and his patients.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Hip Society, British Association for Surgery of the Knee, British Orthopaedic Oncology Society and European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society.
Mr Pollock has published over 90 research papers on joint reconstruction and bone cancer and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings. He enjoys teaching orthopaedic and is an instructor on many of the postgraduate courses at the RNOH. Mr Pollock has 7 clinical excellence awards related to his NHS practice.
In his spare time he is mostly found outdoors in the Chilterns with his young family enjoying cycling, running and walking his dog. He regularly competes in triathlons and in 2016 completed a full Ironman.
