All hospital staff were excellent. Very noisy machine at end of bed was annoying. Not able to sleep because of it.

My overall experience was excellent my only problem was that I requested information about could or should I drink before my operation at 9.00 and was told to wait 15 minutes as they did not know whether mine was first or second & he would come back in the next 20 minutes unfortunately this did not happen until my op at 12.45.

The staff on arrival were very helpful and I waited next to no time to be taken to my room by a very helpful porter. The room was a little chilly so the porter requested the maintenance team attend which they did and sorted that out for me. Everyone on the surgical tam were fabulous, comforting in their approach and I felt at ease at all times. Aftercare was very good. had the same nurse the whole way through my day stay and she was lovely. A very pleasant experience under the cirumstances.

I think the current circumstances of Covid and inevitable staff absences contributed to the frenetic atmosphere on my operation day. On a previous visit for this same procedure, on the 15th December 2021, I had to be sent home after waiting all day for my operation because the theater staff were 'exhausted'. ( this was the reason given for the cancellation... at 7 pm in the evening! So I get the impression that The PG Hospital may be over committing to operational procedures, or too many 'NHS'/ subcontracted operations, without due thought as to the management of staff and factoring in potential absences due to illness - be it Covid or for other reasons.

I recently had surgery at the Princess Grace Hospital and the aftercare was superb. I felt cared for and my pain was managed well. It is very clean at The Princess Grace and my hospital room was well equipped. Most people I interacted with were upbeat and smiley which in current covid times is a delight to see. The only downside is that I had to wait much longer pre-surgery than my scheduled procedure time and would have liked a few more updates.
